Silk Waistcoat and Tie. 21st Century Baroque. 2024.
My design, which is inspired by the Airbus UK ‘saw cut’ silhouette roof at Broughton and also inspired by one of my abstract paintings entitled ‘True Unity In Diversity’, is my attempt to update Baroque styling for the 21st century by using colour, triangles and geometric shapes derived from those triangles. I have used three white triangles to give focal points to the design, one of which forms part of the number 4 shape. The triangles are a reference to The Trinity, the number 4 to the four ends of The Cross and the overall design to the Catholic origins of Baroque styling. The template or tile design is then repeated on the computer to give an overall vertical aspect to the design, appropriate for a waistcoat.
The silk fabric was supplied by and printed on by Contrado and the waistcoat and tie were made by Harris & Howard Bespoke Tailors.
